How to make a mockup

  1. Cover. Design it in the cover creator, or upload your own cover image.
  2. Format. Choose an A+ Content size (970 x 300 or 300 x 300, saved at twice the size with the HD option), a 970 x 600 or 1464 x 600 banner, or the 1080 x 1080 social media square.
  3. Scene and style. Pick one of 64 scenes and one of 7 background styles, or use your own background.
  4. Text. Edit the text block next to the book, place it on the left or the right, or hide it.
  5. Export. Download the mockup as PNG or JPG.

Scenes for every use

  • 3D books: one book, two books, front and back side by side.
  • Open books and interior pages: show what the puzzles look like inside.
  • Screens: the book on a tablet, a phone, a laptop or an e-reader.
  • Flat and decor: the cover on a desk, with objects around it.

Amazon A+ Content rules for your images

The studio shows a warning when the text of an A+ size image contains one of these words. The 970 x 600 and 1464 x 600 banners are not sizes listed in the KDP Help: check the module sizes in the A+ Content Manager before you use them there.

What is a book mockup?

A mockup is an image that shows your book as a real object: a 3D paperback, an open book, pages on a table or the book on a screen. It is used to present a book on a product page, in ads or on social media.

Which scenes are available?

64 scenes in 6 groups (3D books, open books, interior pages, screens, flat and decor), each in 7 background styles: Soft, Color, Night, Design pattern, Wood, White studio and Pastel.

Which image sizes can I export?

Five sizes: 970 x 300 and 300 x 300 pixels for Amazon A+ Content (1940 x 600 and 600 x 600 with the HD option), 970 x 600 and 1464 x 600 pixel banners, and 1080 x 1080 pixels for social media. Images are downloaded as PNG or JPG.

Do I need a cover first?

The mockups use the cover you design in the Cover mode of the same studio: every change to the cover appears in the scenes. You can also upload your own cover image.

In which languages can the text block be written?

The text block next to the book can be filled in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish, and you can edit every line.

Can I use these images in Amazon A+ Content?

Yes, if the image follows the A+ Content Guidelines. The KDP Help gives 970 x 300 pixels as the smallest image for the Image & Text Overlay module (1940 x 600 suggested) and 300 x 300 pixels for the Three Images and Text module (600 x 600 suggested). The guidelines do not allow customer reviews, prices or promotions such as "free" or "buy now", time-sensitive words such as "new" or "latest", holiday references, or claims such as "#1 rated". Amazon reviews A+ Content before it is published.
