Free tool, for personal use. The PDF is a US Letter page with a small LogikLand footer.

How to make a name tracing worksheet in 3 steps

  1. Type the first name. Capital letter first, then lowercase, as the child will write it at school.
  2. Choose the age. Younger children get very large letters; older children get smaller letters and more lines.
  3. Print the PDF. Page 1 is the model with the stroke order, page 2 is for practice.

What the worksheet contains

  • The name written in large letters, with a dot where each stroke starts, its number and an arrow for its direction.
  • Dotted copies of the name to trace, on lines with a top line, a dashed middle line and a baseline.
  • A second page with smaller dotted letters and more lines.
  • Name and Date fields at the top, and a short instruction in the language you choose.

Tips for practising with the worksheet

  • Let the child trace the model with a finger first, following the numbers and arrows.
  • Use a thick pencil or a crayon for the very large letters, then a normal pencil on page 2.
  • Print the sheet several times, or slide it into a clear sleeve and use a dry-erase marker.
  • A few minutes every day is often easier for a young child than one long session.
