How to make a word search in 4 steps
- Choose a theme. Animals, food, a school lesson, a holiday or a family event: a theme makes the puzzle more fun.
- Type your words. One word per line, 3 letters or more.
- Pick the size and the level. A bigger grid fits longer words, and more directions make it harder.
- Print it. Download the PDF: the puzzle is on page 1 and the solution on page 2.
Tips for a good word search
- For children, use 6 to 10 short words, a 10 x 10 grid and the Easy level.
- For adults, 15 to 20 words in a 15 x 15 or larger grid, with the Hard level, makes a real challenge.
- Keep the longest word shorter than the grid size, or the tool cannot place it.
- Avoid words that are contained in other words of your list, because they make the solution confusing.

How many words can I use?
The free maker accepts up to 20 words of 3 letters or more, and a word cannot be longer than the grid. If a word cannot be placed, the tool tells you which one, so you can use a larger grid.
Which difficulty levels are available?
Easy hides the words across and down. Medium adds diagonals. Hard uses all 8 directions, including backwards words, which is the most challenging for experienced solvers.
Can I make a word search for kids, for seniors or for a classroom?
Yes. Use short, simple words and the Easy level for children, or a theme from your lesson for a class. For seniors, choose a smaller grid and the Easy level. LogikLand also has dedicated kids and large print word search books in the dashboard.
Can I sell the puzzles I create?

Does it work with accents and special characters?
Accents are removed and letters are shown in capitals, so "ete" and "été" give the same word. Numbers, spaces and symbols are ignored.
