What changes with the age
Addition and subtraction
Ages 4 to 11
Dots to count under the numbers at ages 4-5, sums up to 10 at 5-6, up to 20 with a few missing numbers at 6-7. From ages 7-8, the calculations are written in columns, with boxes for the carried digits, up to 4-digit additions and 5-digit subtractions at ages 10-11.
Multiplication
Ages 7 to 11
The 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 times tables at ages 7-8, all the tables from 2 to 10 at 8-9, column multiplication by one digit at 9-10 and by a 2-digit number at 10-11.
Division
Ages 8 to 11
Division facts at ages 8-9, long division by one digit with a remainder at 9-10, then 4-digit numbers and division by a 2-digit number at 10-11.
Mental math
Ages 5 to 11
45 quick calculations on one page, with a Time and Score line. Additions and subtractions for the youngest, multiplication from ages 7-8 and the four operations from ages 8-9.
Number pyramids
Ages 6 to 11
Each brick is the sum of the two bricks below it. From ages 8-9, some bottom bricks are hidden and some top bricks are given, so the child adds and subtracts.
Tips
