How to Create a Maze Book for Amazon KDP

Use the maze wizard to generate mazes of any size, choose walls or blocks and your own colors, and export a print-ready maze puzzle book with solution pages as a PDF or PPTX file.

Before you start

The maze generator is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans. Each maze has a start point and an end point marked on the page, and the solution path is shown on the solution pages.

Create your maze book step by step

  1. 1

    Book settings

Choose the language of your book, enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches) and decide whether to add a “How to Play” page.

  2. 2

    Puzzles and maze shape

Choose Single level or Multi-level. In single level mode, set the number of mazes (up to 500), the difficulty level and the grid size, from 5x5 to 40x40. Then choose the maze shape: thin walls or thick blocks.

  3. 3

    Design and layout

Pick the path color and the wall color, choose whether the maze adapts to the page ratio or stays square, and set the top, bottom, left and right margins. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

  4. 4

    Generate, edit and export

Click Generate Book. The solution pages, with the path drawn in your path color, are added at the end of the book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can adjust texts and layout, then download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

Grid size and difficulty

The grid size is what mostly decides how long and how complex a maze is: a larger grid makes a longer, more difficult maze. In single level mode you choose the grid size yourself. In multi-level mode, each level uses a grid size that grows with the level, from 15x15 for Very Easy up to 40x40 for Insane, so you can put easy and hard mazes in the same book.

Tips for a better maze book

  • Keep a strong contrast between the walls and the page, for example dark walls on a white page, so that the mazes print clearly.
  • Choose a path color that stands out from the walls: it is used to draw the solution on the solution pages.
  • Use “Keep square” for square mazes, or “Adapt to page ratio” to let the maze fill the available page area.
  • If generation fails with a very small grid, increase the grid size: a small grid cannot always produce a maze that is long enough.
  • For children, use the Kids Maze wizard from your dashboard: it offers age groups (4-6, 6-8 and 8-10 years) with simpler mazes.
  • Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and page count. Check the official KDP guidelines and preview your file in the KDP previewer before publishing.
