Free Samurai Sudoku Generator
Generate a Samurai Sudoku, five classic 9 x 9 grids locked together on one page, and print it with its solution. It takes much longer than a classic Sudoku, yet it needs no new rule.

Free tool, for personal use, one puzzle at a time. The PDF is a US Letter page with a small LogikLand footer.
What is a samurai sudoku?
A Samurai Sudoku has one grid in each corner and one in the middle. Each of them follows the classic rules, and the 4 corner boxes of the middle grid belong to two grids at once.
That shared space is what makes it special: progress in one grid gives you new digits in another. The puzzle has 369 squares in all, and each level changes how many numbers are given.

How to play Samurai Sudoku
- A Samurai Sudoku is made of 5 classic 9 x 9 Sudoku grids that overlap: one in each corner and one in the middle.
- In each of the 5 grids, every row, every column and every 3 x 3 box must contain the numbers 1 to 9 once.
- The 4 corner boxes of the middle grid belong to two grids at once, so they must follow the rules of both. Every puzzle has a single solution.
How to start
Start in a grid that looks almost open, solve what you can with the classic rules, and watch the shared corner boxes. Every digit placed in a shared box also counts for the neighbouring grid.
The levels
| Level | What you get |
|---|---|
| Easy | about 190 numbers given |
| Medium | about 155 numbers given |
| Hard | about 125 numbers given |
Tips
- Print it on a full sheet, since the squares are smaller than on a classic grid.
- When one grid stalls, move to another and come back: the shared boxes will often unlock it.
- Allow more than one sitting for the Hard level, which gives about 125 numbers.
