How to Create a Samurai Sudoku Book for Amazon KDP

A Samurai Sudoku joins 5 classic 9 x 9 grids that overlap at their corners. Generate a book with 3 levels and the solutions at the end.

Before you start

The Samurai Sudoku wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

One puzzle takes much longer to solve than a classic Sudoku, and needs no knowledge beyond the classic rules.

How to play Samurai Sudoku

  • A Samurai Sudoku is made of 5 classic 9 x 9 Sudoku grids that overlap: one in each corner and one in the middle.
  • In each of the 5 grids, every row, every column and every 3 x 3 box must contain the numbers 1 to 9 once.
  • The 4 corner boxes of the middle grid belong to two grids at once, so they must follow the rules of both. Every puzzle has a single solution.

These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

Create your Samurai Sudoku book step by step

  1. 1

    Book settings

Choose the language of your book (English, French, Spanish, German or Italian), enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches), and decide whether to add a short “How to solve” page.

  2. 2

    Puzzles

Choose One level for a single difficulty, or Several levels to set a number of grids for each level in the same book.

  3. 3

    Layout

Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). Puzzles: 1 or 2 per page (1 in 6 x 9 inches). Solutions: 1, 2, 4 or 6 per page (1, 2 or 4 in the Large Print edition). Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

  4. 4

    Generate, edit and export

Click Generate Book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can change texts, fonts and positions, save your work, and download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

Tips for a Samurai Sudoku puzzle book

  • Prefer 1 puzzle per page: the reader writes in 369 squares.
  • Start with Easy puzzles: about half of the numbers are given.
  • Add the "How to play" page: it explains the 4 shared corner boxes.

Margins and Amazon KDP requirements

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
