How to Create a Drop Quote Book for Amazon KDP

In a Drop Quote, the letters above each column drop into the grid to reveal a sentence. Generate a book with 3 levels and the solutions at the end.

Before you start

The Drop Quote wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

The sentences are written by LogikLand, not taken from famous authors, in each of the 5 languages. Black squares separate the words.

How to play Drop Quote

  • A sentence is hidden in the grid. Black squares separate the words.
  • The letters above each column belong in that column, in another order. Each letter drops into one square of its own column and is used once.
  • Start with short words and common endings, then read the sentence as it appears.

These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

Create your Drop Quote book step by step

  1. 1

    Book settings

Choose the language of your book (English, French, Spanish, German or Italian), enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches), and decide whether to add a short “How to solve” page.

  2. 2

    Puzzles

Choose One level for a single difficulty, or Several levels to set a number of grids for each level in the same book.

  3. 3

    Layout

Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). Puzzles: 1 or 2 per page (1 in 6 x 9 inches). Solutions: 1, 2, 4 or 6 per page (1, 2 or 4 in the Large Print edition). Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

  4. 4

    Generate, edit and export

Click Generate Book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can change texts, fonts and positions, save your work, and download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

Tips for a Drop Quote puzzle book

  • Start with Easy puzzles: about a third of the letters are given.
  • Advise a pencil: readers try letters, then change them.
  • Add the "How to play" page: the way the letters drop is easier to understand with the rules.

Margins and Amazon KDP requirements

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the sentences come from?

They are written by LogikLand, so the book contains no quotations from other authors.

Can a word be cut across two lines?

No. Each word stays whole on its line, and black squares fill the rest of the line.
