How to Create a Word Ladder Book for Amazon KDP

The Word Ladder wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

The number of lines is the shortest found with our word list. Another ladder of the same length may also work, so the solution shows one possible answer.

• Go from the top word to the bottom word, one line at a time.
• On each line, change exactly one letter and keep the others in place. Each line must be a real word.

These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

   Book settings

   Choose the language of your book (English, French, Spanish, German or Italian), enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches), and decide whether to add a short “How to solve” page.

   Puzzles

   Choose One level for a single difficulty, or Several levels to set a number of grids for each level in the same book.

   Layout

   Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). Ladders: 1, 2 or 4 per page. Solutions: 1, 2, 4 or 6 per page (1, 2 or 4 in the Large Print edition). Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

   Generate, edit and export

   Click Generate Book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can change texts, fonts and positions, save your work, and download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

• Start with Easy ladders: 3 or 4 letters and 3 or 4 steps.
• Four ladders per page work well: the book stays quick to play.
• Add the "How to play" page: it explains that another answer of the same length can be right.

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
