How to Create a Sudoku & Variants Book for Amazon KDP

Put Classic Sudoku, Sudoku X, Jigsaw Sudoku and Killer Sudoku in a single book. Each variant gets its own chapter, with a title page and its rules, and its grids go from easiest to hardest.

Before you start

The Sudoku & Variants wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

A variety book gives solvers a change of rules from one chapter to the next. You choose which variants to include and how many grids of each level.

What is in a Sudoku & Variants book?

One book with Classic Sudoku, Sudoku X, Jigsaw and Killer: pick the variants and the number of grids per level.

One chapter per variant (title page and rules), its grids from easiest to hardest.

Create your Sudoku & Variants book step by step

  1. 1

    Book settings

Choose the language of your book (English, French, Spanish, German or Italian), enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches), and choose the “How to play” pages: a detailed guide with examples, a short text page, or none.

  2. 2

    Puzzles

Tick the variants to include (Classic Sudoku, Sudoku X, Jigsaw, Killer), then enter the number of grids for each level of each variant (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert). The wizard shows the total number of grids in the book.

  3. 3

    Layout

Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). Grids: 1, 2 or 4 per page. Killer Sudoku uses 2 grids per page at most, so that the cage sums stay readable. Solutions: 1, 2, 4 or 6 per page. Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

  4. 4

    Generate, edit and export

Click Generate Book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can change texts, fonts and positions, save your work, and download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

Tips for a Sudoku & Variants puzzle book

  • Start each chapter with a few Easy grids, even in a book for experienced solvers: each variant has a new rule to learn.
  • Keep the rules at the start of each chapter (detailed guide or short page): the four variants do not have the same rules.
  • To make a book with a single variant, use the Sudoku X, Jigsaw Sudoku or Killer Sudoku wizard instead.

Margins and Amazon KDP requirements

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
