How to Create a Kakuro Book for Amazon KDP
Kakuro is a crossword made of numbers: each run of white squares adds up to the sum shown in the grey square next to it. Generate a Kakuro book with 4 levels, from 6 x 6 to 12 x 12.
Before you start
The Kakuro wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.
Bigger grids and longer sums make the puzzle harder, because more combinations of digits are possible.
How to play Kakuro
- Fill every white square with a digit from 1 to 9.
- The grey squares give sums. The number in the top right corner is the sum of the white squares to its right, up to the next grey square. The number in the bottom left corner is the sum of the white squares below it.
- A digit can never appear twice in the same sum. Every grid has a single solution.
These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

Tips for a Kakuro puzzle book
- Use 8.5 x 11 inches for large Kakuro grids: the sums are printed inside the grey squares.
- Easy and Medium grids only use sums of 2 to 4 squares: a good start before the 10 x 10 and 12 x 12 grids.
- Add the detailed “How to play” guide: it shows how to read the two sums of a grey square.
Margins and Amazon KDP requirements
Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
