How to Create a Sea Battle Puzzle Book for Amazon KDP

Sea Battle is a solo logic puzzle: a fleet is hidden in the grid, and the numbers around it tell how many squares of each line are taken by ships. Generate a Sea Battle book with 4 levels, from 6 x 6 to 10 x 10.

Before you start

The Sea Battle wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

The ships to find are drawn under each grid, and some squares are given at the start (water or a piece of ship).

How to play Sea Battle

  • A fleet is hidden in the grid. The ships to find are drawn under the grid. Each ship is a straight line of squares, across or down.
  • The number at the end of each row and under each column tells how many squares of that line are taken by ships. Two ships never touch, not even at a corner.
  • Some squares are given: a wave means water, a shape shows a piece of ship (a rounded end, a middle square, or a round one-square ship). Every grid has a single solution.

These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

Tips for a Sea Battle puzzle book

  • The level sets the size of the grid and the fleet: 6 ships at Easy, 9 at Medium, 10 at Hard and Expert.
  • Expert grids have the fewest given squares: place them at the end of the book.
  • Keep the detailed guide: the shapes of the ship pieces (rounded end, middle, one-square ship) are shown with examples.

Margins and Amazon KDP requirements

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
