How to Create a Futoshiki Book for Amazon KDP
Futoshiki is a Latin square with “greater than” signs between some squares. Generate a Futoshiki book with 4 levels, from 5 x 5 to 8 x 8, and the solutions at the end.
Before you start
The Futoshiki wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.
The puzzle needs no arithmetic, only comparisons, which makes it easy to explain and suitable for many ages.
How to play Futoshiki
- Fill the grid so that every row and every column contains each digit exactly once: 1 to 5 in a 5 x 5 grid, 1 to 6 in a 6 x 6 grid, and so on.
- The signs between two squares must be respected: the point of the sign always faces the smaller digit.
- Some digits are given at the start. Every grid has a single solution.
These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

Tips for a Futoshiki puzzle book
- 5 x 5 and 6 x 6 grids are small: 4 per page works well in 8.5 x 11 inches.
- Hard and Expert grids give almost no digits, so most of the work comes from the signs: keep them for the end of the book.
- The rules fit in one sentence (the point of the sign faces the smaller digit), but the detailed guide adds examples for beginners.
Margins and Amazon KDP requirements
Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
