How to Create a Binary Puzzle Book for Amazon KDP

A binary puzzle is filled with 0s and 1s following three simple rules. Generate a binary puzzle book with 4 levels, from 6 x 6 to 12 x 12 grids, and the solutions at the end.

Before you start

The Binary Puzzle wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

The level is set by the size of the grid: the bigger the grid, the longer the chains of deductions.

How to play Binary Puzzles

  • Fill every empty square with a 0 or a 1.
  • Never more than two identical digits next to each other, in a row or in a column. Each row and each column contains as many 0s as 1s.
  • Two rows, or two columns, can never be identical. Every grid has a single solution.

These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

Create your Binary Puzzle book step by step

  1. 1

    Book settings

Choose the language of your book (English, French, Spanish, German or Italian), enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches), and choose the “How to play” pages: a detailed guide with examples, a short text page, or none.

  2. 2

    Puzzles

Choose One level for a single difficulty, or Several levels to set a number of grids for each level in the same book.

  3. 3

    Layout

Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). Grids: 1, 2 or 4 per page. Solutions: 1, 2, 4 or 6 per page (1, 2 or 4 in the Large Print edition). Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

  4. 4

    Generate, edit and export

Click Generate Book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can change texts, fonts and positions, save your work, and download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

Tips for a Binary Puzzle puzzle book

  • Choose 1 or 2 grids per page for the 10 x 10 and 12 x 12 levels so that the squares stay large.
  • The rules are short: the detailed guide shows them on example grids, which helps solvers who discover the puzzle.
  • A binary book pairs well with Sudoku and Futoshiki in a series of logic puzzle books.

Margins and Amazon KDP requirements

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
