How to Create a Cryptogram Book for Amazon KDP
A cryptogram hides a sentence behind a letter code. Generate a cryptogram book from our themed sentences or from your own, with 4 levels and the decoded sentences at the end.
Before you start
The Cryptograms wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.
Each puzzle has a table at the bottom of the page to note the codes already found. At the Expert level, numbers replace the letters.
How to solve a cryptogram
- Each cryptogram hides a sentence. Every letter of the sentence has been replaced by a code, and the same letter always has the same code.
- Write the letter you find on the line above each code. Start with the short words and with the codes that appear most often.
- Use the table at the bottom of the page to keep track of the codes you have found.
- Accents are not shown: the sentence is written in capital letters without accents.
These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.
Create your Cryptograms book step by step
- 1
Book settings
Choose the language of your book (English, French, Spanish, German or Italian), enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches), and choose the “How to play” pages: a detailed guide with examples, a short text page, or none.
- 2
Puzzles
Choose one level or several levels and the number of cryptograms. Tick the themes of our sentences, or add your own sentences, one per line: each needs 40 to 110 letters and at least 12 different letters, and your sentences are used first.
- 3
Layout
Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). One cryptogram per page, with its letter table. Solutions: 1, 2 or 3 per page. Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.
- 4
Generate, edit and export
Click Generate Book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can change texts, fonts and positions, save your work, and download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

Tips for a Cryptograms puzzle book
- Choose themes that match the cover and the title of your book, for example a themed cryptogram book.
- If you add your own sentences (quotes, proverbs), make sure you have the right to publish them.
- Easy cryptograms give 4 letters: start the book with them so that new solvers can learn the method.
- A Large Print Cryptograms wizard is in the Seniors tab of the dashboard: one large grid per page by default, big print and large print instructions.
Margins and Amazon KDP requirements
Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
