How to Create an Arrowword Book for Amazon KDP

In an arrowword, the clues are written directly in the grid, and an arrow shows where each answer goes.

Before you start

The Arrowword wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

There are 3 levels, with at least 7, 9 or 12 clues per grid. The clues are short and simple, written for easy reading, so these grids suit relaxed solving rather than experts. The grids are airy: grey squares stay empty.

How to play

  • The clues are written in the grid. Each arrow shows the square where the answer starts and its direction.
  • Write one letter per square. Where two answers cross, they share the same letter.
  • The clues are short and simple. The grey squares stay empty.

These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

Create your Arrowword book step by step

  1. 1

    Book settings

Choose the language of your book (English, French, Spanish, German or Italian), enter its title, select the page size (8.5 x 11 inches or 6 x 9 inches), and decide whether to add a short “How to solve” page.

  2. 2

    Puzzles

Choose One level for a single difficulty, or Several levels to set a number of grids for each level in the same book.

  3. 3

    Layout

Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). One grid per page. Solutions: 1, 2, 4 or 6 per page (1, 2 or 4 in the Large Print edition). Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

  4. 4

    Generate, edit and export

Click Generate Book. Your project opens in the visual editor, where you can change texts, fonts and positions, save your work, and download the book as a PDF or an editable PPTX file.

Tips for a Arrowword puzzle book

  • Prefer the 8.5 x 11 inch format: the clues inside the squares stay easier to read.

Margins and Amazon KDP requirements

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
