How to Create a 16 x 16 Sudoku Book for Amazon KDP

A 16 x 16 Sudoku uses the numbers 1 to 16 in a grid of 256 squares. Generate a book with 3 levels and the solutions at the end.

Before you start

The 16 x 16 Sudoku wizard is available on every LogikLand plan, including the FREE plan, from the dashboard. Commercial rights, which you need to sell your books on Amazon KDP, come with the PRO and EXPERT plans.

The rules are those of the classic Sudoku, with boxes of 4 x 4 squares.

How to play 16 x 16 Sudoku

  • The grid has 16 rows, 16 columns and 16 boxes of 4 x 4 squares.
  • Every row, every column and every box must contain the numbers 1 to 16 once.
  • Use the given numbers to work out the others. Every grid has a single solution.

These rules are printed at the start of your book when you add the “How to play” page.

  3. 3

    Layout

Choose the title of each puzzle (name, level and number, or the number only). Grids: 1 or 2 per page (1 in 6 x 9 inches). Hard level: 30 grids at most in a book. Solutions: 1, 2, 4 or 6 per page (1, 2 or 4 in the Large Print edition). Then set the top, bottom, left and right margins, from 0.25 to 2 inches. A page counter shows the estimated length of your book compared with the page limit of your plan.

Tips for a 16 x 16 Sudoku puzzle book

  • Prefer the 8.5 x 11 inch format: the squares stay large enough to write two digits.
  • Start with Easy grids: more than half of the numbers are given.
  • Each generated book is checked for a single solution, so a Hard book takes a little longer to build.

Margins and Amazon KDP requirements

Amazon KDP margin requirements depend on your trim size and your page count: the inside margin must be larger for thicker books. Check the official KDP margin guidelines, preview your file in the KDP previewer, and increase the margins in the Layout step if needed.
